“Sew Classic” empire waist peasant dress is a softly gathered a-line shaped dress with a flattering scoop neckline. Such a sweet and comfortable dress with elastic casing around the neck and sleeves then accented with a ribbon or fabric trim casing for the elastic empire waist treatment.
All color coded sizes from 6 months to 14 years are included in the same pattern. Long and ¾ sleeve versions are also included in the pattern.
Some peasant dresses look more like a paper bag with armholes cut out. “Sew Classic” has more shapely lines and curves like the dresses from my groovy days of the 60’s. To accomplish this pattern, I had to make the PDF pattern a full paper pattern that tapes together. Most peasant patterns are just straight pieces of fabric with armhole templates cut out. No shaping.
The first dress is made from a modern cotton print with a coordinating fabric for the empire casing and big bow.
The second dress is made from a light weight cotton lawn and grey ribbon for the empire waist casing then decorated with an interchangeable clip on bow or corsage. . It turns a plain dress into a WOW dress.
For the upcoming Fall season, a ¾ sleeve dress is just perfect. Long sleeve option is also available.
I am including my “Sew Big” bow pattern and my “Ribbon Flower” pattern links for FREE! Just use your imagination and the sky is the limit.
